Graves Into Gardens

Elevation Worship

I loved this song right away! It powerfully spoke of what Jesus has done in my life. I too was engaged in an unending search for acceptance and love. I was dead inside, but he brought me life.

Brandon sings,

“I’m not afraid
To show You my weakness
My failures and flaws, Lord, You’ve seen them all
And You still call me friend”

To think that God knows every dark thought and hidden deed, and still looks at us with love. It’s not the He condones everything we do, think or say, rather that He loves us in spite of those things. He sees beyond them to the core of the hurt or the lies that propel us in those directions. He desires to free us and bring us into the love and light He lives in.

I used to feel to ashamed to be honest with God. I didn’t realize that my way of hiding from Him was to ignore or push aside an issue by not acknowledging that failure to Him. Many things I took to Him daily, but the deeper or more embarrassing incidences I either justified or worked to try not to do again. Unfortunately, for far too long, I didn’t even realize I was doing this.

The truth is, He wants us to bring every thought, deed and word to Him; good and bad. Every. Single. One. He is not waiting to hammer us with condemnation, but instead clothe us with His love and righteousness.  We must be willing to have a dialogue with Him and explore those areas we want to hide. When those areas are brought into the light, He will bring healing. Only Jesus can make life from death and turn our graves into gardens.

Take a listen:

Lyrics:

I searched the world
But it couldn’t fill me
Man’s empty praise and treasures that fade
Are never enoughThen You came along
And put me back together
And every desire is now satisfied
Here in Your love (hey) Oh, there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
(Oh, yes I know it’s true)
(Come on, tell ’em, hey) I’m not afraid
To show You my weakness
My failures and flaws, Lord, You’ve seen them all
And You still call me friend
‘Cause the God of the mountain
Is the God of the valley
There’s not a place Your mercy and grace
Won’t find me again Oh, there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
(I know it’s true)
Oh, there’s nothing (somebody testify) better than You
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You You turn mourning to dancing
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You’re the only one who can (come on)
You turn mourning to dancing
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory (tell ’em now)
You’re the only one who can You turn graves into garden
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can (please sing for me)
You’re the only one who can Oh, there’s nothing (come on choir) better than You
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You (search and I found)
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Oh, there’s nothing (nothing) better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can
You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can
You’re the only one who can
You’re the only one who can You turn mourning to dancing
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You’re the only one who can
You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can
You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can
You’re the only one who can
You’re the only one who can
Jesus, you’re the only oneCome on, give ’em one more shot of praise Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Brandon Lake / Christopher Joel Brown / Steven Furtick / Tiffany Hammer Graves Into Gardens lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC
